1st week back to school ASL/Deaf Studies ReCap

So this past week was my first full week back in college. I am loving my classes. There is quite a bit of homework but, most of it is reasonable. All of my teachers are wonderful. I have already attended 1 Deaf event . It was amazing. I am looking forward to doing another. I am actually going to a Deaf Church tonight, I am a little nervous but excited at the same time. I am picking up ASL fairly fast. I receive better than I can send. ( in other words I understand more than what I can "say").

Some of ASL is easy to remember but some are just a bit harder, just like any other foreign language. Going to Deaf Fest was kind of like being dropped in the middle of a foreign country and being told sink or swim. I dog paddled  :) I know enough to say : I am a student, please repeat, Slowly please and a few other key phrases. I was surprised that so many people I know have a family member who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing (HoH), and the family hasn't taken the time to learn ASL. It makes me kind of angry. Everyone has the right to communicate,and I am now more determined than ever to be a bridge when needed. Deaf people should not have be the only ones working to communicate. If you have someone who is HoH or Deaf, Please if they know sign, LEARN SOME. I'm not saying you have to be fluent but its not right to leave them out of the conversation. I am just a student, this is only my second week. The people who I communicated with at Deaf Fest were pleased that I tried, even when it didn't work exactly like I thought.There was lots of encouragement and smiles.

 So if you were at Deaf Fest in St. Louis. Thank you.

1. Its Sunday.. No explanation needed.
2. I got up before my alarm
3. Its still raining.
4- because 3 was iffy, I found my mp3 player and it still works.

Day 3 of Positive thoughts
1. The rain is beautiful, the farms need it. 
2. Hot tea is great 1st thing in the morning.
3. Farm Fresh eggs are soo much better than store bought. And I just picked up mine this morning.
*  School Starts on MONDAY!!!!

Yes I am excited and at the same time a bit nervous. 

Tonight’s dinner? Beef tenderloin with a garlic butter sauce, with salad and maybe some lemon zucchini bread for dessert. It’s already started, the beef has to come to room temp.

It's a beautiful day

The sun is shining.

My alarm actually went off .. and I heard it.

The hot water is working in the house

The internet is working in the house both on the desktop and on wifi.

A friend of mine challenged me to 5 days of positive posts. 3 each day.  I think I may try to continue longer than 5 days .With a modification; one each day  after Monday.

Positive thinking has anecdotal evidence that says "if you start your day positive that is how the rest of the day will follow." I'm not sure I completely agree with that. There are certain things you cannot control and have no business doing so. But, You can almost always control your reaction to them.

So, For Today I am going to look on the positive side. And get a cup of coffee.

1 week plus a wake up until school starts

YIKES. I really need to get my books ordered . I need to clean my room and get the schedule posted for everyone. This next week is either going to fly by.. or its going to drag on and on and on and on.

I am excited. Next Monday looks like its going to be a long day. Its the re-start of school for me. The next few years school  is all I am doing .. well probably.

The Internet is BACK!

My internet was down for 3 whole Days! I got nothing done for school prep. :(  But is was nice with no phone at all for the same period of time  :)

NO Pintrest,No Email, No Facebook.... It was nice. But I am thankful its back.

I am going to be working hard on getting everything ready. Especially for Sunday School. I have a week left for that but I am waffeling on what to use for curriculam. I have the 1st Sunday pretty much figured out but the rest is still slightly up in the air. The curriculam I was going to use has a few issues and now is not completley correct for my crew of kids.

School as in college is less than 12 days away . I need to order books and start filling out my planner :) I am going to attempt to be organized this time around for college.

Somthing to consider

I am an introvert! I am ok with this. I am going to start school in 2 weeks! Some of my classes require extravertedness... I can do it. BUT This link on intraverts is wonderful. #10 and #11 are me to a T. My spelling has been atrocious today.

It has been a busy day. 2 appointments, a trip to the mall, dinner, minor aniversary celebration and the computer is finally working YAY!!
