American Election

Hey everyone. I know I have been gone and I picked a sticky day to start writing again.

Yesterday was the election. Today we may find out who the new President of the US will be.  I keep my opinions of each candidate to myself.

Right now I am more concerned for the American people. It won't matter who wins, there is going to be disappointment and disillusion.

As I look at the poles I see an America almost completely split in 2, and I am concerned for us as a Nation. One nation?.. It sure doesn't look like it.

So, today or whenever they actually announce who the president will be, do me a favor and be gentle.

Because in my opinion America loses no matter who becomes president. We are a nation divided,

God help us all.

Graduation prep thoughts

Graduation is almost upon me.

On one hand I am excited.
But..
On the other, this is the world that I have immersed myself in for the last 2 years.
I have changed so much in that time, I don't know exactly how to function in the outside world anymore. Class, homework, practicum, eat, sleep, shower- repeat. My divorce changed my life. I have set goals and am about to accomplish them, and it feels good.

But.. What do I do Now? Change is coming. That's okay. I need to figure it out. I know I need to find a job, and apartment ,all that grown up stuff. Thankfully, I am not in debt. Where to live, what to do, its up to me! My parents are supportive, I know whatever I chose they will accept.

Graduation.. is in the evening. Graduation Party?? I am so torn. I kind of want one, and yet I really dislike parties. I would like to just curl up and read a book the next day.  But, I want to be recognized for getting this program done. At the same time, I don't like being the center of attention and all the stress that comes with the parties. What to do?  Any recommendations? Also, my parents are moving so doing anything at the house is not a good option. And remember, I'm not working yet so , my finances are tight.

I know some of my extended family would like the opportunity to celebrate my accomplishments with me. They know I worked hard to get this degree done. (sigh) Its not all about me, even though this post kind of sounds like it. :(

Mid Week Recap

The first part of the week has been fairly calm.. Except for one SMALL detail..

My sister got a part time job, that is a good thing. It is the night shift and its close to home . However, that means that my mom and I are the childcare for the 10mtn old and the 5 year old.

This is not what  I thought we would be doing .. its ok, but we are going to have t adjust .

This semester is going to be intense. Not like last year, this year is more" hands up",there is a plethora of things to keep straight. I have my schedule color coded and I'm not sure that it will be enough. I am planning on staying at school late 2 days a week to try to study. It is a challenge to do here with the baby and her brother.

I have trouble focusing on studying for school and ignoring the baby, when I know in less than 9 months, I will be graduating and Hopefully moving.

Todays post brought to you by my friend COFFEE. I am going to be drinking many cups this semester. :)

2 important dates are getting Closer!!

Hi Everyone.

The 2 dates that are getting closer are.... the start of camp in 11 days and the beginning on my final year in college for my Associates Degree. (more education is on the horizon)

Camp is what I am focusing on right now. I got my packing list and I have most of the stuff. There were a few things that I know I had at one point... But who knows where they went. I will just upgrade those things. Camp is in Canada!! One more country to check off my list. (YES!)

Oh, if I haven't mentioned it yet, Camp is completely in ASL!! I am excited and nervous at the same time. 7 days without using the spoken word.

Camp this year is different for me. It marks the beginning of the end of a chapter in my life. I get back from camp and have a week off, then its time for the next semester to start.

In May, when I graduate, my plan, at this point is to leave Illinois.

Where will I be going you ask? I don't know yet. There are many, many, many, options to consider. It will depend on jobs, education and other factors. I am considering: Alaska, Texas, New York and a few other places.

My eventual goal is still not completely clear. I know I want to travel, use my ASL skills, and make "magic" happen. But how that is going to come about is still to be discovered..

I will try to do better about updating the blog once I get back from camp.

Thinking thoughts

I am coming to the end of yet another chapter in my life. Its ok. I am making it work. God has control. I will be ready to post about this change soon.

I have about a month left in this semester. I still have 2 regular sememster left + this summer for one class.(sociology) So I graduate in May of 2016!!

I am trying to decide where home is.
As an Army Brat this is a concept that I am having a hard time deciding where that location is. I can go anywhere in the USA.

ANYWHERE! I can live in a small town or a metropolis. I do know I want somewhere warm, not freezing,I need to be near the ocean or the mountians or  some type of intersting geography. I am not a fan of the Flat Land Praire! I would prefer somwhere with a reasonable metro system OR roads that make logical sense. (read laid out by the Army Corp of Engineers or simmilair) I would like to be near a millitary installation, (I think) I just dont know.

Or I could stick around IL for a little longer and finish my BA. I really dont want to but.. I might.

For now its just up in the air and thankfully God knows the plans.

2 more finals then done for the semester

ASL Final Done!  :) It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. There is one section that was hard. I actually enjoyed most of the test. Yes I know that is weird.

Tommorow ? Non Verbal Comm Final.

Thursday ? Deaf Culture - My Last final for the semester. :)  Then .. almost a full 4 weeks off.

It is going to be weird not having to go to class. Its going to be even weirder not seeing my classmates. (shrug) I will see most of them next semester at some point or another.

I already got coffe to celebrate, I must stop at the grocery store on the way home so I can make Beef and Broccoli tonight. I will send Dad to get rice. Its faster and better than mine.

This semester seems to have flown past. I have learned more than I thought. Experiences are worth their weight in gold.  Great teachers are worth more.

Some of the experiences of this semseter were good. Some, not related to school, not so great. But I have learned somthing from every single one of them.

At some point in the future I will write about the not so great, but, for now I am excited. I have done the best I could this semester with all the stuff that happend in life.

I found out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I found somthing I am good at, it helps people and  I get to be a bridge.

So until Thursday and my end of semester post. Keep positive thoughts headed this way. Thanks.
